Williams ReCraft may not yet be an international corporation but everything has to start somewhere. We started with our store front on Main Street in Highland NY. At barely over 300 sf it serves as a space for creative thinking, calm reflection and as our gateway to the world. We come here to do our best thinking in a bright, warm, inspiring environment. The central feature of the office is a continuous shelf that wraps from one side of the room to the next separating the public and private portions of the small studio. This shelf was constructed from standard 2x4’s exploring the beauty present in the simplest of building materials. Full dislosure, I am a decent framer and an aspiring wood worker but I am set up for rough framing, not furniture grade carpentry. Perhaps when the Tillson House is complete I can upgrade the shop. Still, I’m very pleased with what can be done with simple tools and basic materials. Special thanks to the best set designer in the Hudson Valley for his facilities, expertise and support through this process. And of course, the beautiful signage.
